The Valle di Non is situated in the western part Trentino in sunny position, immersed in a hilly and lush scenery. The plateaus rise gently, the rich apple orchards gradually make way for the thick coniferous forests, from sunny meadows to majestic mountains. Great mountain chains such as the Brenta and the Ortles-Cevedale alternate with smaller peaks such as the Anauni, Peller, Roen, Macaion, Maddalene and Mount Luco. These mountains surround and protect the territory from cold, northerly winds and assure a mild and favourable climate.
The valley is rich in water: pleasurable alpine lakes, the artificial lake of Santa Giustina, the Noce river which carves a narrow canyon, but most of all, an infinite number of springs and streams. The Valle di Non is well-known for its main produce, apples. Apple orchards stand out in the landscape and offer a wonderful sight during blossoming.
There are no rigid borders in Val di Non, an ancient tradition identifies different areas: Tovel, the Maddalene Chain (that surround the valley in the north), Predaia and High Valle di Non.
The Valle di Tovel occupies part of the Brenta Dolomites area and belongs to the Adamello-Brenta Natural Park; at Tovel there is the homonymous lake, a popular destination that distinguishes itself by its natural beauties and landscape.
The Predaia, a vast plateau which extends between the western slopes of the Corno of Tres and Mount Roèn, is mainly a pasturing area, rich in coniferous forests, perfect for comfortable strolls. It includes the tourist village Còredo. Northward, in a beautiful landscape, meadows alternate woody scrubs. Here you find some villages: Fondo, Malosco, Sarnònico, Cavareno, Ronzone, Ruffré. The High Valle is in direct contact with many German ethnic areas such as Val d'Ultimo and the areas of Caldaro and Bolzano, through two much used mountain passes, the Mèndola and the Palade.
History left its visible traces in the whole valley: castles, palaces, sumptuous villas, frescoed houses and religious structures, such as the Sanctuary of St. Romedio, a famous place of worship.
In summer, the Valle di Non suggests a long season aimed to sport and relax: hikes and mountain bike tours, horse-riding, fishing, golf on the 9 + 4 hole course in Sarnonico. And in winter, cross-country or alpine skiing and ice-skating. Those who wish to live the snow in a different way, every year in January can take part in the “Ciaspolada”, the characteristic race - or hike - with snow shoes, ideal both for adults and kids.
